The region of Moss has a beautiful countryside, the ydillic peninsula of Jeløya, wooden hills and dense pristine forests. Moss offers an abundance of trails and paths, but most exciting is venture out on the off beaten tracks.
The hikes have different degrees of difficulty and duration. Some areas are wilder and more challenging than others, and it is important that you choose a tour suitable to your physical abilities. Bytårnet - the City Tower in Moss, stands on a small rock up on a hill, next to a school, in the town area called Skarmyra. Panorama view from the top of the tower. Beautiful illuminated by lights on Saturday evening 27th September 2014. (5 bilder) Action at Våler Kickoff centre Sunday 28th September 2014: adrenaline flowing with activities such as climbing, paintball, sumo wrestling, rodeo "ox" riding, ATV rental, mega boxing, target practice with air rifles, crate stacking, parties and over-night stays in Sami tents. Located in the wild forest at the farm "nordre Paulshus gård" in Sperrebotn, Våler, near Hobøelva.
Sunset at the beach Refsnesstranda towards Oslofjorden at Jeløya - atmospheric clouds and sky, 27th September 2014. The golden and blue sky light made reflection in the Oslofjord water and the landscape around.
A wonderful time at farm Alby gård, Jeløya, Sunday 21st September 2014: rode horses at Alby Ponnistall, looked at contemporary art at the institution gallery Galleri F-15, danced in the "move the beat"-dancing machine with using a motion-detecting system (sensors), walked along the coastline and around in lush landscape. We also observed the silhouette of the Bastø ferry on the horizon.
Bogslunden nature reserve, Rygge, Saturday 20th September 2014. Started from the farm Carlberg Gaard. Walked through a lush green forest and cultivated landscape. The strong sunlight strengthen the early autumn colours. Several trails lead to the Fuglevik harbour.
Bjørnåsenbatteri, Skansen in Moss - Historic military fort: Bjørnåsenbatteriet, Torbjørnrød Skanse on a top of a hill. Here I got a wonderful overview over the town of Moss (31st August 2014). Torbjørnrød stronghold, is an artillery position located on the northeast of the centre of Moss town. The battery was one of many forts, which was established in south eastern Norway in the late 1890's as part of efforts to break the country from the union with Sweden. The yellow Convention building, also called the administration building, is best known for being the site where the Convention of Moss was negotiated in August 1814. The celebration of the 200 years anniversary for the Convention of Moss is over this year, but the city council in Moss has made a resolution that 14th August is the annual, local official Flag Day. Nordødegården horse riding centre - horsefarm in Mossemarka wilderness, Moss, Sunday 7th September 2014. If you love horses and are looking for a pastime that will keep you fit in the great outdoors, horse riding in Moss is real rewarding. See the horse covered with Norwegian flag. Standing on the historic place in Mosseskogen forest: The Execution Place from 1817. At the same place it was a dramatic robbery two years earlier. See also other photos from the wild forest. Evening walking trip in the fairytale forest Mosseskogen: Molbekktjernet pond, hills and valleys. In 1716 it was a big battle here between locals and Swedish dragon soldiers.
The church in Moss city centre, a landmark, with flowers and a water fontain in the front - built in 1861 in the neogothic style, with pointed windows and using raw brick.
A dramatic history lesson at Rygge Museum, defence museum at Rygge, Sunday 31st August 2014: cultural monuments, old artefacts, weapons, the Convention of Moss, local war history, Company Linge and the fight for Norway's freedom. The museum consists of 4 buildings, and is located by Rygge's magnificent medieval church.
A wonderful scenery at Botnerbaugen beach and resort, Larkollen, Rygge - for picnic, swimming, fishing and climbing rocks. Today's smell and taste of Moss town (Saturday 23rd August 2014). Playing football, fishing, canoeing, riding horses and eating various food: sport activities for children in the Nesparken park - Aktivitets- og idrettsdag - and the food festival Matfestivalen in the centre of Moss town. The sun was shining and people really enjoyed the beautiful day.
Christian Frederik-løpet - running race today in Moss. At the same time celebrating the 200 years anniversery at the Konvensjonsgården, Jernverks old headquarter - the Convention of Moss, a historic peace treaty between Norway and Sweden. Santa Claus was found stucked in the chimney in a new open cafe at Verket. Park beauty with the Norwegian flag on the top in the centre of Moss town. Today is a special day for Moss and Norway: celebration of the 200 years jubilee for the Convention of Moss, which was a cease fire agreement, signed 14th August in 1814, between the Swedish King and the Norwegian government.

The pond is full of perch and there is a beaver there. By the outlet stream to the pound we would see that the beaver has felled several trees. The heat is on! Having a good time at the Moss dockside Tollboden in the late evening, boat- and party life (Friday 1st August 2014). Weekend pulsating atmosphere: sunshine, rock'n roll and happy people. Nesparken in Moss - a new day in the hot sun: enjoying boat life, swimming and fishing in Vansjø lake at the beautiful park. Here you can find several beaches to choose between. Nice areas for picnic. The park’s wide open spaces are ideal for playing soccer and Frisbee.

Real ducks observing the Rubber Duck Race in Moss 14th June 2014 - Andeløp at Mossefossen - the waterfalls of Moss. After the sluice gates in the dam were open, the water rushed out and some ducks needed to keep tight when the water started to float down towards Mossesundet. Refsnesstranda beach at Jeløya. The town of Moss and its surrounding areas have the most beaches in the whole of Østfold county: 48 beaches within a small area. Choose what you like! Some beaches are with bare rock faces, others with sand or grassy hills. Time to enjoy!
