But that's not all - identifying the song is one thing, but can you also name the artist behind it?

You may be surprised by how much you remember or what you've forgotten! Some of these songs are about historical events, others share strong opinions, give deeper meaning, some are humorous, and a few are downright puzzling. Some of lyric lines might also confuse or offend you.

Are you now ready to test your lyrical recall to the test? Dive into our “Lyric quiz” and find out!

Guess the songs and artists from these lyrics:

Song lyrics 1:
What is swimming? Song and band?
“Way out in the water, see it swimmin'”

Song lyrics 2:
Who is talking on "Keep Talking"?
For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals
Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination
We learned to talk
What was the incident?

Song lyrics 3:
I want to shoot
The whole day down

Song lyrics 4:
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too

Song lyrics 5:
When I left my home and my family
My mother said to me
"Son, it's not how many Germans you kill that counts
It's how many people you set free!"

Song lyrics 6:
In my memory I will always see
the town that I have loved so well
where our school played ball by the gas yard wall
and we laughed through the smoke and the smell
Going home in the rain, running up the dark lane,
past ther gaol (jail) and down behind the fountain,
those were happy days in so many, many ways
in the town I loved so well.

Song lyric 7:
I don't need to be a global citizen
'Cause I'm blessed by nationality
I'm a member of a growin' populace
We enforce our popularity

Song lyric 8:
I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Coca-Cola
C-O-L-A, Cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice, she said, "………..…..."

Song lyric 9:
The ice age is coming, the sun's zoomin' in
Meltdown expected, the wheat is growin' thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
'Cause London is drownin', and I live by the river

Song lyric 10:
Andy, it's me
Haven't seen you in a while
I wish I talked to you more when you were alive
I thought you were self-assured when you acted shy
Hello, it's me

Song lyric 11:
Give Ireland back to the Irish
Don't make them have to take it away
Give Ireland back to the Irish
Make Ireland Irish today

Song lyric 12:
So ya thought ya
Might like to go to the show.
To feel that warm thrill of confusion,
That space cadet glow.
I've got some bad news for you sunshine,
Pink isn't well, he stayed back at the hotel
And they sent us along as a surrogate band
We're gonna find out where you fans really stand.
Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
Get them up against the wall.

Song lyric 13:
Why don't we do it in the road?
No one will be watching us.

Song lyric 14:
Old pirates, yes, they rob I
Sold I to the merchant ships
Minutes after they took I from the bottomless pit
But my hand was made strong by the hand of the Almighty
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have

Song lyric 15:
I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday, I don't care about you
It's Friday, I'm in love
Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart
Oh, Thursday doesn't even start
It`s …………..

Song lyric 16:
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You rearrange me 'till I'm sane
You lock the door and throw away the key
And there's someone in my head, but it's not me

Song lyric 17:
Last thing I remember, I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man, "We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave

Song lyric 18:
There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
