In Norway children set out porridge to attract Santa Claus to their homes.
For them Santa is real. Even they are so afraid sometimes, they want so
much Santa to visit them. He is so kind giving them Christmas presents without
judging them.
Children write openly about that they have stolen drinks
from their parents for giving it to Santa. Often the children are not sure which
brand of Whiskey or Sherry he likes best. That's what the Norwegian author
Birger Siversten writes about in his book "Dear Santa - please send my
greetings to Jesus"
("Kjære Julenissen - kan du hilse til Jesus").
He has read more than 20,000 letters to Santa in Drøbak, Norway, from
children around the world.
One boy admitted that he had stolen a full box of beers from his father
for giving it to Santa. As he wrote in his letter: "if he had stolen just a
bottle, his father would have noticed it".
Since all the drinks vanish quickly, the children believe that Santa drink
very much.
The children have also big concern for the Reindeers. It
most usual to put carrots outside their houses for Santa's flying
transport. The children wonder how long it time it take for the nose from turning red to blue. It's because it`s so
cold up there in the air.
Many children fear that the Santa will die. They give him advise how he could
get slimmer.
Santa is a mythic person, almost goodness, with
incredible big power and richness, and he is even more visible than God and
Jesus for the children, according to the book.
I recommend
all children I know to set out some glasses with the strong Norwegian drink
Akevitt (Aquavit) on the entrance, and I promise them that Santa will show
up. He also likes Whiskey, I says (since this is important I
provide them with specific information so misunderstandings could
be avoided), especially Lagavulin, 16 year old, with distinctive and
powerful Islay malt, deeply smoky and peaty with a velvety complex finish!!!!
Porridge is not for me!
