The biggest Stone Age find ever
|
|
The largest number of Stone Ages homes found in one place, has recently been explored in Norway. The find is much bigger than the archaeologists expected.
This exploration leads to one of the biggest archaeological projects in Norway next year. Based on this fantastic find they will start two big excavations. Totally 77 Stone Age homes are registered in Svinesund in the South East part of the country (reports the National newspaper Aftenposten). The homes various in age, from approximately 7000 year to 3000 year before Christ. The places for the finds are well preserved. The Stone Age represents 75 % of the time it has lived people in Norway.
Østfold county's Conservation leader Perry Rolfsen and Conservator Stein Schjelle, Conservator, have given the mission to the Norwegian Oldsakssamling to do the excavate and register the historical finds. Hakon Glorstad is the project manager.
Archaeologists have also find a home place under some stone plates, which can be from approximately 1000 years before Christ. These are some few of many great Stone Age finds in Norway. On the Swedish border of Svinesund, archaeologists have also found Stone Age homes. Now there is a plan for a joint research project between Norwegians and Swedish archaeologists.
It is interesting to know how our forefathers lived, how their dwell structure was, how their social life was, how they did hunt and what they did eat. These finds are incredible important for new knowledge about the past, and hopefully will be later available for tourists.
