A new business idea within
travel? Think about arranging tours for tourists out in the space? It is
possible?
Read the following quote
from MirCorp`s website and try to imagine how it's like: "Imagine waking up and
rolling out of bed, as you do every morning of your life. Slowly, you rise and
look out your window, preparing for another average day. But instead of seeing
the green of your lawn and the blue of the sky, you awake to the green of entire
continents, and the blue of entire oceans with the deep expanse of space as the
background. Looking through the glass portal, you don't even care what is going
on in your house, in your city, in your country, in the entire world.
MirCorp will make that dream
possible". According to
MirCorp, the company will enable life on the space station Mir to be experienced
through the private sector, opening a new realm of possibilities at the dawn of
commercial space travel. The company is partly own by the Energia, the Russian company that built
Mir (News agency AP). MirCorp is an international firm established by the Gold
& Appel Transfer S.A. holding company and RSC Energia - Russia's oldest and
most respected Space Company.
RSC Energia (whose full name
is S. P. Korolev Rocket & Space Corporate Energia) has been a pioneer of
space technology since man's goals turned towards space in the 1940s. Founded by
Sergei P. Korolev, RSC Energia presided over the launch of both the first
artificial satellite, Sputnik-1, and the first manned space flight by Yuri
Gagarin. The Dutch-based MirCorp brings Western financial support and management
expertise together with Russia's unmatched experience in the operation of manned
orbital space stations.
The spaceship will cost
approximately 100 million dollar, and take between 18 months and 2 year to
build. The plans to the Dutch-based company have been unclear after the Russian
government announced in November that Mir should be ended. The old station is
too expensive to maintain and too risky to keep in a course around the earth
(News agency AP). MirCorp will continue to develop the company to be leading
within manned commercial space exploration
It is fantastic to hear
that MirCorp intend to use Mir to attract paying "space tourists". For travel
explorations; not even the sky is the limit!
