Song about the great mountain Kilimanjaro

2003-12-18
Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, rises majestically up in the sky. The highest peak is 5895 metres. When the sun shines and the sky is clear, the glaciers on the top light up the peak. It's seldom fully covered by clouds.
From a far distance it's possible to admire the beauty of the mountain. In its full pride you can see the mountain standing in vast open scenery. For many people it's also an open invitation to climb the mountain, but for those who do it without respect it can be pretty uncomfortable. Kilimanjaro takes and it gives!

The following lyric is written down from the song called "Kilimanjaro". It's performed by the Safari Bound Band, and it's available on the CD "The Best of African Songs" (Kelele Records), which I bought in Tanzania July 2003. Are you ready for sing along?

Kilimanjaro

See what a mountain

See what a beauty

See Kilimanjaro

See what a mountain tall (Repeat)

Kilimanjaro

See what a mountain tall

Kilimanjaro

See what a mountain tall (Repeat)

This song is performed by the Safari Bound Band. Their music is just perfect for parties, and highly recommended for celebrations after conquering Kilimanjaro.

Stein Morten Lund, 20 August 2003
