Dominick is
still missing since. According to Xexplorerweb, it`s their hope that Dominique
is having ARGOS and Iridium phone trouble, and is safe on a solid piece of ice
somewhere.
Last update from Dominick Arduin`s website (www.arctic-dominick.com): Today evening (on Wednesday) we received
confirmation, that search for Dominick will continue early tomorrow morning.
Weather around the search area is good". Search for Dominick continues today
(18 March).
The
ARGOS system is a
satellite transmitter beacon. It gives information about the carrier`s location,
temperature, and sends out a pre-coded message to basecamp managers. Several
North Pole teams reported issues with their ARGOS positioning
beacon. Dominick's beacon transmitted only faint signals.
Referred from
Xexplorersweb: "Monday night a storm hit
the area. The temperature was -40C/F, with strong winds. for 24 hours.
Expeditions reported a drift of 1km/hour (15 miles/day) NorthWest, with a
visibility of around 40 ft. There are large patches of thin ice and dangerous
ice walls like the one that consumed the Russian Research station".
Time is running out now, but it`s still hope
for Dominick, and the search will continue.
