Røa, near Hovseter and Østerås, is a residential area and past district north of Ullernåsen and east of the Lysaker river in the western part of Oslo and Bærum bordered to the west. At the district reform in 2004, the district Røa (District No. 24) become merged with Vinderen, and is now part of the district of Vestre Aker in Oslo. The Røa district covers an area of circa 70 000 inhabitants.
Oslo is the capital of Norway and is also its largest city. It has over 600,000 inhabitants and covers 454 square kilometres, 242 of which are forests.
Oslo is a really pulsating summer city with plenty of beaches, harbours, party life and concerts. Between the Oslo Fjord and the green hills of Oslomarka lies the Norwegian capital! The combination of city life and easy access to outdoor activities makes Oslo a unique destination.
Oslo is perfect for an active vacation! There is a wide choice of sightseeing, and the easy access to the fjord and the forest presents many possibilities for outdoor activities.
Oslo it`s also the world`s winter capital. The city is full opportunities for great winter experiences for all ages; try ice skating downtown or skiing in the hills and trails surrounding the city!
Holmenkollen is the city`s outdoor paradise and arena for large sport events. Holmenkollen is the hill you see on the north western side of Oslo, and here you’ll find one of the most popular recreational areas in the city; Nordmarka, in addition to Oslo's most visited tourist attraction Holmenkollen (jumping arena and ski museum).

I published the sunset photo and first update of this article few minutes before I got notified about the gruesome bomb attack in Oslo, and later the shooting massacre outside Oslo. It was a terrible shock for me. Oslo is a beautiful city and has much to offers for tourists, and I still wonder: how could this happen in a peacefully, nice and safe place as Oslo - the city I love so much! All my sympathy and thoughts are with they who where hit by this meaningsless terror action - with great sorrow!
