Arctic expeditions grow in number (photo from Xexplorersweb: www.explorersweb.com)
For the North Pole it has definitely been new
records for expeditions. So far five expeditions have set out for a North Pole
expedition this year, all from the Russian side. These are (information source:
Xexplorersweb: www.explorersweb.com):
·
Wave Vidmar to be the first American to
ski solo and unsupported to the North Pole.
·
Frédéric Chamard-Boudet to do the same for
France.
·
British Ben Saunders attempts a first
solo, unsupported crossing.
·
Danish/French duo Bettina Aller and Jean
Gabriel Leynaud ski to the pole with support
·
French/Finnish woman Dominick Arduin
attempts the first solo, female North Pole trek with support.
Some people have
also set out for the South Pole. Both Fiona Thornewill and Rosie Stancer made it
to the Pole in record time of 42 and 44 days. So did the climber Mr. Park
Young-seo.
Expeditions in
Arctic
are in general very popular among explorers and adventurers at the moment. Some
people find their own ways to break new records: flying, walking, swimming, paddling,
skiing etc. Many do it unsupported and on new routes. There will also be
arranged competitions in marathon, balloon rally, polar races and other
activities in the nearest future.
Photo (Xexplorersweb -www.explorersweb.com). Some people
turn their North Pole dream in to reality now a days!
It most be a cold dream, and even colder
experience! |

Why attracts arctic areas so many people now a days?
Perhaps it's because it's the world's last "white" spot! It's true in the double meaning! And
as someone put it: walking in arctic areas is like beeing on another
planet. In addition the nature gives the right INSPIRATION and THRILLING challenge for the most
ambitious adventurers. But no pain, no gain!
Frostbite doesen't scare
real explorers and adventures. The bigger the challenge is, the more fun and
exciting will the experience become. The Polar action goes on more than never
before, but how would it affect the beautiful nature
there?
