The Hillsborough Memorial at Anfield Road.
It stands
alongside the Shankly Gates at Liverpool's football ground
Anfield
Road, and is always decorated
with flowers and other tributes to the 96 fans listed above. At the centre of
the memorial burns the eternal flame, signifying that they will never be
forgotten.
Today it's 15
years since 96 Liverpool died for their club.
They will never be forgotten. The Hillsborough Disaster happened on a
Hillsborough station in Sheffield,
England. It
caused the loss of 96 lives. Liverpool F.C. should play their 17th FA Cup
Semi-Final against Nottingham Forest F.C.
Only six minutes
after the game started, the referee called a halt to the game. An influx of
supporters in the Leppings
Lane end of the ground (the
Liverpool
supporters' end) caused a crush. This crush ultimately took the lives of 96
people. A permanent tribute to those who lost their lives can be found alongside
the Shankly Gates at Anfield. A further tribute was set up in 1999 at
Hillsborough.
Lyrics from the
famous Liverpool song:
You'll Never Walk
Alone:
When you walk through a
storm
Hold your head up
high,
And don't be afraid of the
dark,
At the end of a storm,
There's a golden
sky,
And the sweet silver song
of a lark,
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the
rain,
Though your dreams be
tossed and blown,
Walk on, walk on, with hope
in your heart,
And you'll never walk
alone,
You'll never walk
alone.
As mentioned the Hillsborough Memorial is
situated at Liverpool FC's ground at Anfield. The club has set up a specific
page as an alternative for fans who cannot visit the ground to pay their
respects to the 96 fans who lost their lives following the disaster.

The 29 May is another
memorial day for Liverpool. It is a day of
remembrance for both Liverpool and Juventus supporters.
Think for a minute about those who lost their lives at Heysel stadium in
Brussels
(Belgium) and pray it never happens
again. This time Liverpool played against Juventus in
the European cup finale. 39 football fans died when a wall collapsed at the
Heysel stadium. What should have been one of the greatest nights in the club's
history turned into a nightmare. Instead of leaving
Brussels having seen our team lift
a fifth European Cup, Liverpool supporters travelled back
to England having witnessed the deaths of 38 Italians and one
Belgian.
