Nothing changes a country like a war. That which is history books for many nations, is a yesterdays memory for this one. I realised that all of the things that struck me as unusual about El Salvador have to do with those 12 years.

Trekking from hut to hut in Norway`s pure wilderness is the best way to experience the country. When the snow has melted there are great opportunities for exploring Norway`s breathtaking nature by foot. Here you can walk down to deep valleys, climb high mountains and cross glaciers. DNT - the Norwegian Trekking Association, also called Turistforeningen in Norwegian, are Norway's biggest outdoor organisation for activities. During 135 years the organisation has promoted trekking and improved conditions for all who enjoy the country's broad range of outdoor attractions. Hundreds of thousands come back from Peru unaware that just about 100 km or so from Machu Picchu lies another magnificent complex. Choquequirao has taken over from over-crowded Machu Picchu as the true Lost City of the Inca.

The mysteries related to Stonehenge goes on, and even recent discoveries make it bigger. It`s probablably the most famous of all English Heritage Properties. Archaeologists discovered in May 2003 six more bodies near the grave of the so called King of Stonehenge.
The remains of four adults and two children were found at a site in Amesbury, close to where the Amesbury Archer was discovered the year before.

A skeleton is found in a grave. Based on the find, do we have to reconsider our understanding that this old monument has been a holy place only, and has only been used to measure summer and winter solstice, and then at a later time been used to execute people?

Just one kilometres from the summer cottage I stayed in, a local told me that he had observed a big bear when it crossed his way. Another person told me that he had shot a big bear in the area previous year. In Finland`s 12 wilderness areas, which together cover 15,000 sq. km of land area, there are plenty of opportunities for wild adventures in natural sourundings.

Now researchers assume that they have unearthed what was Robin Hood`s home at the time he lived, and its located near the city he has been mostly associated with, Nottingham in England.

The natural beauty of Yunnan Province is a wonderland for adventure travellers. Ancient wonders, beautiful parks and temples can also be admired.

Through the narrow winding streets I walked around in Mdina, the old capital, to look for traces after the Knights. Their traces are found spread around the island, also in the new capital Valetta where I also took my time to find more about them. Perhaps a ghost from the legendary Knights of Malta showed up when I looked curiously around? Ghostbusting in the light of the Knights` history is bloody is really something. It`s said that most of the Mdina ghosts from that period are Turks, one of whom was hung on the city walls every morning during the Great Siege of 1567.

Ever since St. Paul was shipwrecked in Malta religion has been central for the Maltese people. This is evident by the hundreds of churches and chapels scattered throughout the islands of Malta and Gozo. Many of these magnificent structures were built hundreds of years ago. The Maltese know how to celebrates their saints. As I could observe, the Maltese Fireworks Festival in the Grand Harbour in the capital Valletta on the 29th and 30th of April 2006, was a spectacular show, but it was just the beginning for something more: the coming months villages and towns of Malta and Gozo will celebrate the feast of their patron saints. Here churces and cathedrals play an important rolle for the locals.
