Just one kilometres from the summer cottage I stayed in, a local told me that he had observed a big bear when it crossed his way. Another person told me that he had shot a big bear in the area previous year. In Finland`s 12 wilderness areas, which together cover 15,000 sq. km of land area, there are plenty of opportunities for wild adventures in natural sourundings.

Wether is summer or winter, the Finns like it hot. Sauna is thought to be beneficial physically for many reasons, such as increased blood circulation, flushing of impurities by sweating, raised pulse and metabolic rate. But it is also considered to have a number of emotional benefits as well, partly because of its ritual social aspect, especially when it comes to nudity. Most political issues are also solved in sauna. For the Finns the sauna is the most important place to meet and discuss things that`s really matters.

On 8 July 2006 the Tangaro expedition reached its target. Tangaroas sailing across the Pacific has turned out well without conflicts, dramatic situations or accidents. The men on the raft say they are better friends now than when they started. Their goal was to sail the same route as the world famous Norwegian, Thor Heyerdahl did, when he crossed the ocean with his raft Kon-Tiki in 1947.

For 65 years ago the world famous Norwegian adventurer and scientist Thor Heyerdahl's launched a theory that the remote Easter Island was populated by people from South America. In recent time a study of DNA in the Pacific, conducted by Erika Hagelberg, a geneticist at the University of Oslo, indicates that the people who live on the island Rapa Nui, or more known as the Easter Island, are descents from Asia. This is island is famous for it hundreds of giant, stone statues. They are the only remains here of one of the most amazing cultures and stonework that the world has ever seen.

Stories are an important part of the Bedouins culture. They are the majority of Jordan's population. Their great hospitality is something you never forget. Over all, I and my guide Ibrahim become invited by local people in tents for tea and resting in the shadow. I enjoyed being with Bedouins to picnics, joining Bedouin Whiskey parties, participating in Bedouin traditional dances, and drinking tea with people in the tents. Especially I become fascinated by all the stories I heard. You shall hear many things before your ears fell off.

Ever since St. Paul was shipwrecked in Malta religion has been central for the Maltese people. This is evident by the hundreds of churches and chapels scattered throughout the islands of Malta and Gozo. Many of these magnificent structures were built hundreds of years ago. The Maltese know how to celebrates their saints. As I could observe, the Maltese Fireworks Festival in the Grand Harbour in the capital Valletta on the 29th and 30th of April 2006, was a spectacular show, but it was just the beginning for something more: the coming months villages and towns of Malta and Gozo will celebrate the feast of their patron saints. Here churces and cathedrals play an important rolle for the locals.
