Yet, curiously, throughout this process a strong Valencian cultural identity emerged in, once again, the City of Contrasts. The locals see themselves as an ethnic kingdom within Spain. What is spectacular, though, is that here the traditional is still very much in fashion, preserved mainly in music, costumes, customs and fiestas. A good third or so of Valencia proudly sports regional costumes (said to be the most colourful in Spain) and music on even the smallest occasion. That includes a lot of youth. Here, it is still cool to be traditional in the 21st century.

Western Europe is such an ultimate travel destination that anything worth seeing has already been triple-packed. It is practically impossible to find a place that has major attractions yet has retained its innocence. And, out of all countries, Spain the place where annual tourist head count overtakes that of its residents is a very unlikely candidate for such location.

The red rocks of Isla Guadalupe blazed in the morning sun, a clear sky welcoming us after a stomach-churning 14-hour crossing. Lapping waves and the cries of fur seals on the nearby shore were the only sounds to be heard one hundred fifty miles from the mainland. The water roiled as foot-high fins sliced the surface like a knife through cerulean silk. It was a perfect day for a dive.

These temples there are much older than the Pyramids of Egypt and Stonehenge, and their secrets are still well hidden. Previous year I explored the temples Hagar Qim and Mnajdra on Malta, and now it was time for me to explore the two temples of Ggantij on Gozo.

Actual is a fairytale story based on some parts of historical incidents in the Maya culture. It`s definitely not meant to be a documentary even it`s very convincing in both the story and action scenes. The movie started the discussion again about how the Maya culture was and what happen to the Maya Indians when they vanished.

Antigua is the cultural centre in Guatemala. Its full of beauty and charm! The richness lies in the creativity of its native population, especially when it comes to their skillful weaving of carpets and traditional costumes. We had a memorable experience admiring the towns colours and architecture, observing massive volcano peaks, attending the largest festival in Central America - Semana Santa, touring around on endless greens stretches, and enjoying Antiguas brown treasure, the towns delicate coffee.

Finally I saw the light! It was like an apocalypse for me entering the discotheques in Riga! I was both blended and fascinated by the colourful flashing lights. Sometimes I got the feeling of floating around in space with twinkling stars all around me. Few things are better than getting lost in an inferno of lights, music, dancing and drinking. I realised soon that the city was more lighten up in the nights than in the sunniest days.

First we were blessed in church during a ceremony, so we took our way up as close we could be to heaven in Riga, the Skyline Bar in Reval Hotel Latvija. Here we warmed up with beer and strong drinks for the night, and admired the panoramic view of the city. Later in the evening we went the whole way down to the hotel`s basement and dived into the hotel nightclubs mystical voodoo rituals. The party life in Riga turned us really on!
