Famous Norwegian adventurer and climber - Arne Naess jr. died in an mountain accident

He life was a adventure, both as a succesfull buisnessman and adventurer. He was also famous due to beeing the former husband of Diana Ross. Arne Naess jr. was killed on Tuesday 13 January 2004 in a mountain accident near Cape Town in South Africa.
Reported by Aftenposten 13 Januar 2004, the great mountaineer Naess was a guest on the farm Lomarins in Franschoek. He went climbing at 08:00 this morning (Tuesday) and fell to his death at about 12:30 p.m.," police captain Etienne Terblanche told News24. Mary Martins-Engelbrecht, a spokesperson for Interpol South Africa, said Naess, was a guest of Johan Rupert, son of business magnate Anton Rupert. Rupert's family is ranked one of the top two wealthiest families in South Africa.

According to national wire service SAPA, the accident apparently happened on the Rupert farm. According to www.everesthistory.com, Naess, born August 12, 1937, summited Everest on April 29, 1985 via the standard South East Ridge route as leader of a Norwegian expedition. In the team was another famous mountaineer - Chris Bonington.

Naess was born in Germany in 1937, a nephew of Norway's Arne Naess senior, who was a mountaineer and philosopher. Naess married soul singer Diana Ross in 1987. The couple was divorced in 1999.Neass leaves seven children, including two with his partner, Norwegian Camilla Astrup.

The great Norwegian climber will never be forgotten! Arne Naess jr. would be a good inspiration source for others who like big challenges.
