Iceland offers unique natural features, which include glaciers, hot springs, geysers, active volcanoes, portentous peaks and vast lava deserts. One of the most interesting places to experience is Vatnajokull. The glacier in southeast Iceland is Europe's largest glacier, covers 8200 km2, account for 8% of the country, and has the highest point in Iceland.
The fairytale nature is true!
The country`s rich culture and folklore tradition has been inspired from the wild nature. In modern time the world famous pop group Sigur Ros express the best of Iceland`s amazing nature through their music. Strong forces of mother nature, both from fire and ice, have shaped the landscape in southeast Iceland. In 1995 it was a volcanic eruption from a place below the Vatnajökull glacier. For they are interesting in experience the dramatic landscape can go by jeep or snowmobile.
Another natural wonder in the Vatnajokull region is Jökulsárlón. This place has huge iceblocks floating on the lagoon right by highway no. 1. One alternative way to experience the wonder is to take a 30-40 minutes guided boat trip on the lagoon, and admire the over thousand years old icebergs by sailing among them.
