The award was covered in National Geographic Adventure's December 2004 issue special: "Best of Adventure in 2005."

ExploresWeb has covered hundreds of expeditions in 2004, and as the edition says on its website that the New Year will be no rest for adventurers. 

Selected from several hundred expeditions in 2004, there are 8 awards plus 4 special mention's, according to ExplorersWeb. In the end of the year it was a countdown for the six best of the website`s very long list.
