Climbing expedition to Mount Everest

2004-02-22
Will Al Hanna make it again?
According to the web site MountainZone.com, a new expedition for reaching Mount Everest is ongoing. One of the climbers on the expedition is the famous mountaineer Al Hanna (69). Since 1992 he has climbed Ama Dablam, Carstensz Pyramid, Mount Vinson, Kilimanjaro, and Mount Elbrus.

He reached the south summit of Mount Everest in 1995, and has made an attempt on Aconcagua earlier this year just for the adventure and training. He makes now an attempt on Everest intended to be the oldest man to reach the highest summit. The legendary mountaineer Vern Tejas will lead the expedition.

Plans and routes Alpine Ascents International and MountainZone.com treks together through the Khumbu to attempt to climb Everest via the South Col route. When it comes to climbing, Alpine Ascents International will lead multiple treks to Everest Base Camp.

For they who are interested can join renowned guides and trek to Base Camp. The trek requires no climbing and is a reasonable outing for a fit enthusiast. Trekkers are scheduled to arrive at Base Camp about the time climbers will attempt to reach the summit.

Alpine Ascents Internationals guides Vernon Tejas, Todd Burleson, Wally Berg, and Jim Williams will lead the climb and treks. As two treks are offered, different guides will available for each specific trek.

Covering live If you like to follow this expedition, the web site MountainZone, covers this live. The Everest 2000 site on MountainZone.com has gone live from the end of March since climbers and trekkers arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, and started their preparations for the journey to the mountain.

It is interesting to follow the day-by-day progress of the trekking groups and climbing teams on the web site MountainZone.com. Through live audio, video, email and voice dispatches, the progress of the climbers (and trekkers) can be tracked day by day and even hour by hour.

This must be one of the greatest adventures of our time. It is fascinating that we now can follow such great expeditions live through high tech information channels.
