Google Earth played a role in the discovery of a new hominid fossil at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in South Africa. Researchers use of this software tool has resulted in several amazing disoveries in the previous years, and now a new discovery is done.

The discovery reported on 7 April 2010 is one of the most significant palaeoanthropological discoveries in recent times, revealing at least two partial hominid skeletons in remarkable condition, dating to between 1.78 and 1.95 million years.
As Google itself describe the tool Google Earth on its website (http://earth.google.com): "The world's geographic information at your fingertips".
