The film shows how microtomography, CT scans and X-ray techniques were used to examine and recreate a 3D image of the creature, revealing that this early primate was a previously unknown species and one of our earliest ancestors.
It's 47 million years since Ida died; around 25 years since she was excavated from Messel Pit; and just over 2 years since Dr Jørn Hurum acquired her fossil for the University of Oslo Natural History Museum.
On Tuesday 19th May 2009, Ida was finally presented to the world. She is set to revolutionize our understanding of human evolution. Ida has got her own website: www.RevealingTheLink.com.
