People seem to have occupied the sites seasonally, using them for ritual feasting and funeral ceremonies.
In ancient times, this settlement would have housed hundreds of people, making it the largest Neolithic village ever found in Britain.
The dwellings date back to 2,600-2,500 BC - according to the researchers, the same period that Stonehenge was built.

The actual period for constructing Stonehenge is not confirmed. Some archaeologists point out that there are problems dating Stonehenge itself because the stone circle has been rebuilt many times.
In 1999 it was done another sensational discovery at Stonehenge. A British archaeologist claims to have seen a face carved into the side of one of the mighty stones at Stonehenge. The face can be seen on the side of a standing stone. It is the first face ever seen on the Neolithic monument and one of the oldest works of art ever found in Britain. Has the face of the creator of Stonehenge been staring at us unrecognised for more than 4,000 years?
