Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission, James Balog, to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. Within months of that first trip to Iceland, the photographer conceived the boldest expedition of his life: The Extreme Ice Survey. With a band of young adventurers in tow, Balog began deploying revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the brutal Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers (source: www.chasingice.com).
Balog has spent the last seven years chasing icebergs in Iceland, Greenland, Alaska and Canada.
Got 75 minutes melting of icebergs on film. And by the Ilulissat glacier in Greenland, the film crew witnessed around 7.4 cubic kilometers of ice melting. 25 timelapse cameras were placed around the glacier, which caught totally 75 minutes of the ice as it divides.
