Auschwitz-Birkenau anniversary celebrations without the "Arbeit macht frei” sign The Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich (www.sztetl.org.pl) writes on its website that although the historic sign was found, the thieves have cut it into three pieces.
It looks like the sign will not appear over the camp gate for some time: it is currently examined by the police and later on it will be handed over to the prosecutors and conservators.
